Re: My Recent visit to Phuket

All have available guys and all are on the very masculine side. Fabulous report, Trongpai! If you go to Phuket there is plenty to do, take a tour of Phang Nga Bay, see James Bond Island and Phuket Fantasea. I have only been there twice, but both times very pleasant and fun. And yes, the taxi mafia ...

Re: Nice Boys Tonight

Nice Boys is my favorite bar in Sunee, after acting on your advice. Credit where credit is due, sir. But it was packed when I went and uneventful. I could have stared at those guys for hours. I will give it a try again in the lowest of low season. You were right about this place, very masculine and ...

Re: Winner Boys in Sunee Plaza ‘offing fees’..

I fail to understand how any of the answers to a boy asking for a drink requires anything more than a simple NO! I failed to understand, too. I guess he didn't take no for an answer. That was my entire complaint. He thought I had offed him before and that that entitled him to another automatic off....

Re: Winner Boys in Sunee Plaza ‘offing fees’..

Thank you for the encouragement, Gaybutton. I have that book, "The Men of Thailand," and oddly enough, I was looking at it just yesterday. My first experience in Thailand was in Bangkok in 1997. On that first trip, from page 192, the very first bar where I offed somebody was "The Turn...

Re: Winner Boys in Sunee Plaza ‘offing fees’..

Thaiworthy, are you sure you were in Winner Bar? You were with me that night. March 21st to be exact. I assume the owner is farang. If he were there, wouldn't the boys would have been on their best behavior? At least, better behavior than this. #39 got in my face and just wouldn't back off. Next ti...

Re: Winner Boys in Sunee Plaza ‘offing fees’..

For those who want to know his rationale for his business model, he's there most nights. Rather than speculating as to why he runs his bar the way he does, why not simply ask him . . . ? If that's the case, then I would have a lot to ask him. I have never seen him there, but I don't go a lot. When ...

Re: Not So Friendly Thailand

Another good "general characteristic" which I am especially grateful for, is Youth's respect for Elders. Although this is probably found in most Asian cultures.

Re: Not So Friendly Thailand

I must disagree. I do believe there are general characteristics to virtually all Thai people Can you be more specific and give examples of what some of those general characteristics might be? Exactly. But I have an example of the exception. I have straight friends who were born and raised in the US...

Re: Not So Friendly Thailand

I agree there are no general characteristics to Thai people, whether perceived arising from culture or not. That is drawing a conclusion. Defining behavior as attributable to a way of life may exist for some, but not all. The phenomenon of a heartfelt goodbye by some Thais have existed in my own per...
