Re: Tanzania hunting gays...

Religion certainly. But let’s never forget British colonization. If the Brits had stayed at home, the Victorian anti-sodomy law would not have spread around the world.

Re: Thailand to Seek Extradition of Thaksin

Since Hong Kong is Chinese territory and China is responsible for Hong Kong’s external affairs, I assume China has to be involved somewhere in this mix. But I cannot see what good Thaksin’s return to Thailand would achieve other than to sow more discord. Best he stays well away I reckon.

Re: More retirement visa problems - maybe

This is certainly going to be interesting. I am frequently out of Thailand - as I presently am for two weeks - sometimes for work in Hong King or elsewhere. I am not going to pass up paid work just in order to visit Immigration for a 90 day bank book check. I wonder why Immigration imagine that thos...

Re: More retirement visa problems - maybe

Wonder what happens in my case. I have never had to make a 90 day report as I am always travelling before 90 days are up and the airport Immigration stamp equals the 90 day report. I cannot believe I have to present the bankbook on arrival! If they expect me also to trek out to Chaengwattana, I’d li...

The system had too much power and lacked redundancy, the Seattle Times reports.

Re: More retirement visa problems - maybe

I have used the 800.000 route for years. Always I take out Bt. 100 and then update the bankbook at the passbook update machine at Chaengwattana Immigration just an hour or so before I see the officer. Always works.

Re: Boeing 737 Max8 Crashes

I understand from what I have been reading that unlike virtually all other systems on all aircraft, the new MCAS system might not have redundancy back up. Further, the information provided to the FAA regarding the angle of nose down stated it was only about one quarter of the actual angle. The repea...

Re: Boeing 737 Max8 Crashes

It gets worse! The Seattle Times has an even more disturbing article today. Flawed analysis, failed oversight: How Boeing, FAA certified the suspect 737 MAX flight control system Federal Aviation Administration managers pushed its engineers to delegate wide responsibility for assessing the safety of...

Re: Boeing 737 Max8 Crashes

Boeing Had Insisted That 737 Max Jets Required Little Training Another scary piece of news from The New York Times. In the USA prior to the grounding of the 737 Max aircraft there were 74 of the aircraft flying. Yet in the entire country there is only one simulator for pilot training. American Airl...

Re: Boeing 737 Max8 Crashes

Interesting comment on the BBC a few moments ago. We have been told that a pilot could de-activate the aircraft's automatic nose-down action just by turning off two switches. What I had not known is that once it has been deactivated, the software automatically clicks back in and pitches the nose dow...
