Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

Well it looks like "Crop Burning" is the biggest contributor. That may be true in the north but to the best of my recollection there has never been a crop burning issue affecting pollution in Bangkok. Further south, though, crop burning in Indonesia usually creates huge haze issues in Sin...

I thought the burning of crop stubble was already banned in Thailand! Guess I must be wrong.

Re: Emirates Axing the A380 from its BKK/HKG route

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe a flight between Bangkok and Hong Kong is about 2½ hours. That is indeed about the average flight time, although as HKG is now subject to flight management control and this will remain until the third runway is ready, you can be stacked for a good 30 minutes b...

Emirates Axing the A380 from its BKK/HKG route

For the last 9 years, Emirates has run a daily A380 service between BKK and HKG with fares on its excellent business class service not much more than economy on the other legacy carriers. Those who enjoy the flat bed seats and the excellent bar at the back upstairs will have to make do in future wit...

Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

As I stated yesterday and as both papers make clear, the pollution levels in Bangkok are not universal. So it is only parts of Bangkok which are badly affected. As yesterday, the view from my apartment is pretty clear today. The sun is shining and I can see patches of blue sky. I have no idea what c...

Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

There are reportedly 7 million registered vehicles in Bangkok and the road networks were only designed for 1.4 million vehicles. In per capita terms, there are twice as many cars per person in Bangkok as there are in Tokyo and Seoul and seven times Shanghai. I've driven vehicles in both Tokyo and S...

Re: Pattaya Ranked Fourth Healthiest City in the World

A load of nonsense, the more so when the "study" states that Chiang Mai is the world's second most healthy city! I say "nonsense" because the thread heading gives absolutely no indication of what was studied. At the start it writes this - The study ranked each city based on the n...

Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

Pattaya has been hazy lately too, but so far nothing like Bangkok. I think it's important not to overplay the pollution situation. In parts of Bangkok it is certainly bad. But I took this photo just a few moments ago. I don't consider this bad at all. https://i.ibb.co/VvpSy3Y/image2.jpg

Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

In 18 years of living in Bangkok, I have never known the haze/pollution to be so bad. But then, I have never known a winter to be so hot and devoid of the cooling periods when the winter monsoon blows in and lowers temperatures for a few days at a time. When Beijing has temperatures drop below zero,...

Re: Thailand wants "Pink Dollars"

And like I said, being "the first" is fake news! ! Personally, I don't like fake news from whichever source it comes - Trump and his merry caravan of liars or a functionary in Thailand.
