Re: Thailand Resumes Executions in The Name of Peace

the victim families were there throughout the entire trial and were completely convinced of their guilt. That's good enough for me. They have no doubt. Clearly the families were emotionally involved. Clearly, too, they would have wished to see justice done after their children had been murdered. I ...

Re: Thailand Resumes Executions in The Name of Peace

I base my view on the western judicial system whereby a jury must be convinced beyond reasonable doubt that an accused is guilty. Frankly I have no idea what the rules are for judges in Thailand. But a jury in the west would find plenty of holes in the evidence in this case to present "reasonab...

Re: Thailand Resumes Executions in The Name of Peace

We agree to differ. No, I was not there. But I have read enough from international coverage to believe that justice was not served beyond any reasonable doubt. “The suspects have been kept without legal representation. We still don’t have lawyers observing the process directly,” said Pornpen Khongka...

Re: It's not just Trump - Our World is Changing for the Worse

I am never able to understand the BS about God and him having a grand plan for millions to die from hunger or disease because he put them on the wrong part of the planet. So sick of these useless religious leaders who enrich themselves by spreading this BS. As Churchill said of the Soviet Union, it...

Re: Thailand Resumes Executions in The Name of Peace

When the vast majority of the country is corrupt in large or small measure, how can anyone state with any degree of justifiable confidence that an alleged criminal is innocent or guilty? Would any member here submit to Thai justice if accused unjustly of a capital crime? I wouldn't. I'd run - assumi...

Re: It's not just Trump - Our World is Changing for the Worse

She [Merkel] has allowed all these middle-Eastern refugees into Europe. History shows people from that part of the world do not integrate properly. The worst of them support terrorism. There have been cases of women being assaulted by refugees and they change the whole character of German cities fo...

It's not just Trump - Our World is Changing for the Worse

I am sure tens of thousands of articles have now been published about Trump’s vile actions in separating children, often babies, from parents. It is tempting to adjudge that his use of words and phrases like “these aren't people, they are animals” and “”infesting our country” take us back to Nazi ti...

Finally New BTS Trains for Sukhumvit Line - but ...!

This week 22 new Siemens manufactured trains were handed over to the BTS authorities. These will come into operation in December. Will they finally reduce congestion on the Sukhumvit Line where the BTS has consistently refused to add a fifth carriage to their trains? Well, unlikely! It just so happe...

Re: The British Royal Family and the Closet

I used to have a Gay young friend travel with me from Montreal. Before that he lived in Europe with a very wealthy man . He swore to me that he used to party with Prince William and at the very least he was Bisexual. No idea if there were ever any rumors of that . . . I laugh every time I see some ...
