I have never met a boy who said he likes small-minded farangs hence why are they permitted in a gogo bar?

Re: What happened to North Korea?

Every time Trump makes one of his foolish, bullying comments about Kim Jong Un, I would presume it merely increases the latter's resolve to obtain full nuclear capacity as soon as possible in a hostile world.

Re: Comeuppance (or, Memories of an Indian Holiday)

Thanks for your own recollections of India. It truly is a magical place, though it helps to have experience of somewhere like Thailand first, which breaks the traveller in somewhat and lessens the shock of its flipside horrors. I've been back once since the trip described, accompanied by an American...

Comeuppance (or, Memories of an Indian Holiday)

I made my first trip to India in December 1996. I was working as a London minicab driver at the time and went with a fellow-driver from the cab office. Ashley his name was. He was mid-twenties, very diffident but sweet-natured, and loved the outdoor life; he played tennis, his obsession, to county s...

Re: Jomtien Complex Revisited

Undaunted's claims remind me of patriotic Americans circa 1950 who were so anti-communist that they saw 'reds under the beds'. I live close to Jomtien Complex and know it pretty well. A maximum of 20 percent fem boys, I would say. If it seems more, it's probably because they make a disproportionate ...

Re: Where did Boys Not Wear Swimming Trunks in 1952?

Apparently, the American Public Health Association mandated nude swimming in high schools between 1926 and 1962. A quote from the article below (one of many if you do a google search) neatly sums up why it seems strange to us now: 'Our society has so sexualized nudity, particularly child nudity, tha...

Re: Gone With The Hot Air

No one can disguise the fact that it was over slavery, the forced removal of humans from lands far away, the buying and selling of humans, the horrible abuses most then suffered and the vast profits gained as a result. I cannot accept that anyone fighting for such a cause is worthy of public rememb...

Re: Gone With The Hot Air

You absolutely cannot divorce the two. As you know, we had a Civil War of our own in England. Statues of leading figures on both sides are still dotted around the country. There is a famous one of Charles I (complete with horse - and head) in Whitehall, at the heart of government. Nobody, as far as...

Re: Gone With The Hot Air

But this situation is not dissimilar to what is happening with historical monuments. In the case of the Robert E. Lee Memorial in Charlottesville, I think the decision to remove it was a mistake. It doesn't commemorate slavery, it commemorates a great American. Not only was Lee arguably the best ge...
