Chulalongkorn Day - Tuesday, Oct. 23 - banks and govt. offices closed

Tuesday, October 23 is King Chulalongkorn Day in Thailand. Government offices and bank branches will be closed. Mini branches in shopping malls will be open. As far as I know, the bars will be open normally. For details about King Chulalongkorn, see: https://www.thaiembassy.sg/friends-of-thailand/p/...

Re: Caravan Crisis

In other words caravans is not a problem. US congress is a problem. Unfortunately, that is not going to solve the problem these people face. Again, I sympathize with them, but in my opinion their problems need to be solved at the root - in their own country. If their government cannot take care of ...

Re: Caravan Crisis

The US should probably make sure the border is secure and make sure the migrants do not cross the border. I agree. I don't see how the USA has any choice but to do just that. The USA has had trouble enough with illegal immigrants trying to get in from Mexico, not to mention the numbers of illegals ...

Re: Annual Flu shot

She said no, don’t do that, medicine in Asia is no good, lol. That is utter nonsense. First, many of the medicines in Asia are imported from both the USA and Europe. The Thai made medicines are also just fine. The medicines are just fine, but I would make sure to get them from either a reputable hos...

Caravan Crisis

I don't know if referring to these people from Honduras as migrants is really the proper descriptive term, but no matter what they are called, they are trying, in thousands, to reach the USA. Suppose they do manage to get as far as the USA border? Then what? What happens next? What do these people t...

Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

The point is we don't know squat whether the USA embassy is going to change anything about issuing proof-of-income statements, whether immigration will continue to accept them, and if obtaining the retirement visa via proof-of-income statements will continue or become history. To me, the only logica...

Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

And in 7 pages what has been accomplished only to feed on itself all this from a remark posted originally without any substance during a dinner conversation Like I said, you have the option to stop reading the topic. What is feeding the fear is coming from what the Embassy Liaison person said about...

Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

This has gone on for 7 pages, 7 pages of useless and speculative assumptions While that is true, I don't see anything wrong with finding solutions well in advance of the problem occurring. If the problem never occurs, wonderful. I don't care if the topic goes on for 50 pages. People are worried and...

Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

I suppose I could, but . . . The point is anyone going to immigration can do that. If nobody else has done so before I go, certainly I'll ask. I still think the best people to ask are the staff who do the retirement visas. If they don't have the answers, the next stop is Col. Songprode, or whoever ...
