Re: Bangkok For Expats

What's happened in Bangkok in the last 10-15 years is a huge influx of high end properties in the 30 to 300 million baht range. That would skew an average on the high end depending on the methodology of the study. I don't know who's buying these high end condos and homes but I suspect it Chinese mon...

Re: Hotel Bookings

I went to the Travel Fair today. It runs until Sunday March 3. I had mentioned before that it's marketed for a Thai customer base but as a farang you would be welcome. Well, let me rephrase that, some will welcome you and others will not. Some of the vendors are practicing duel pricing. Discounts ar...

Re: Locked Up, detained and deported for Vaping

I did not know vaping was a crime in Thailand. I see people all over Thailand doing it. I see them for sale by street vendors. I read someplace recently that it's useful in helping people quit smoking. Makes no difference to me as I'm not a smoker, vaper or a midnight toker.

Re: Icon Siam Bangkok

Yes, I did see that buffet restaurant on the top (7th?) floor. There was a long line to get in and It was the only restaurant that had a line. If there's a food court similar to Paragon I missed it. I did not see any construction of a monorail. Might have missed that too. I guess it would go to BTS ...

Re: Coffee Shops in Pattaya

No one mentioned the Coffee Club? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Coffee_Club They seem to be expanding in Bangkok and I noticed one on Beach Road in Pattaya. I love their eggs benedict and pan egg omelet. It's not on an 'English muffin but really good bread toasted, very good ham, not packaged pr...

Icon Siam Bangkok

Today, I finally made my first visit to Siam Icon. I had been avoiding a visit until the crowds died down. We went via the free shuttle boat from Sathorn pier, well marked and very easy to find. There was no waiting for a crossing late afternoon. The boat is new, large and fast. It's certainly an im...

Re: Prescription Drug Pricing at Thai Hospitals

Yes, you're correct the sign and receipt now reads CHULA MD. Same owner, new name. Rama 4 just before Suriwong right at the Rama 4 foot bridge. I rather like the new set up, counter one, two, three: order, pay and check and package. I have found that you have to watch them at counter one that they g...
