Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

Well here is an extract from the BKK post, covering all of Thailand. I would guess BKK has less burning and is higher for the other 3 causes. Manufacturing is an interesting source. I would suggest that some industries have virtually no emissions and others will be very bad. It could make sense to i...

Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

I have a friend in the U.S. who was involved in setting up Ford Motor Company Thailand tell me in very straight terms that "Thai People Don't Change Oil", thus the reason you see so many newer model cars, trucks and buses spewing black smoke from the exhaust which is something you would o...

Re: Pattaya Ranked Fourth Healthiest City in the World

Well looking at some of the people staggering around does serve as a reminder to live a little healtier. For example some of the Arabs managed to end up seriously overweight at a relatively young age. Even a significant minority of the Thais seem incapable of walking anywhere, with predictable conse...

Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

It's about time the Thai government thought about tackling pollution by discouraging the use of fuel burning vehicles. As major public transport upgrades are imminent, they should be simultaneously looking at road charges or fuel taxes. Also a tax system that favours heavy brick shaped diesel pick u...

Re: Elizabeth Warren is running for president

Some people remain sharp way beyond 78. Warren Buffet is a fine example, in his late 80s and would probably outshine me in most areas, despite being more than 30 years older. What we don't know is how sharp a 78 year old would be 4 or 8 years down the line. The probability of some deterioration is h...

Don't you guys all want a very strong candidate who can definitely beat Trump AND reduce divisions?
With such a dreadful president and people dumb enough to vote for him, any old candidate doesn't seem enough

(Not that UK politics is doing much better)

Food Mart has The Sun, The Daily Mail and a Dutch newspaper.

For those unfamiliar with British papers, the Daily Mail is low class and The Sun is worse.

Re: I Went To Thailand For Vacation And All I Got Was This Lousy......

I always buy travel insurance.
As a UK resident in my early 50s, an ANNUAL policy for worldwide cover excluding North America was about £35. Max trip length 90 days. About £10 million medical cover.

I am aware that this will get more expensive as I age, but right now it's a no brainer.
