Re: What Product is Being Scrapped from Japan's Convenience stores?

I imagine sales in this specialist publishing sector have dwindled due to availability of material on line.

Censorship in China

A report on some rather petty Chinese censorship.

Incidentally, as Grindr and Blued are Chinese owned, I wouldn't expect them to report this.

Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

Improving pollution could include items like legislation to remove vehicles with bad emissions, taxes on fuel to discourage excess vehicle use, taxes for driving vehicles in Bangkok and restrictions on burning things. People tend not to like such measures and an election is coming up. So far I have ...

Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

I presume the tour operators make money from the allegedly cheap Chinese package tours. The benefit to wider society doesn't matter much to tour operators, as long as they are making money. Incidentally, Chinese visitors to Europe are big spenders in the high end stores, such as Harrods and so on. O...

Re: Emirates Axing the A380 from its BKK/HKG route

I wouldn't kick them out of bed either, but suspect we are not going to get the chance. As for the airlines, I don't understand why anyone would run an A380 on a short haul route. A more normal approach is to run A320/737s with more frequent flights. As for a 3:35 am departure, who would buy that ? ...

Re: Cheap Thai Viagra “Assuming no Boners”

That article is over 6 years old. The stuff is already in production and my sources tell me it can be had for as little as 100 baht for a box of 4. I cannot figure out why farang purchase obvious fake "Viagra" branded tablets off vendors at the beach when Sidegra is cheap and most unlikely...

Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

Well here is an extract from the BKK post, covering all of Thailand. I would guess BKK has less burning and is higher for the other 3 causes. Manufacturing is an interesting source. I would suggest that some industries have virtually no emissions and others will be very bad. It could make sense to i...

Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

I have a friend in the U.S. who was involved in setting up Ford Motor Company Thailand tell me in very straight terms that "Thai People Don't Change Oil", thus the reason you see so many newer model cars, trucks and buses spewing black smoke from the exhaust which is something you would o...

Re: Pattaya Ranked Fourth Healthiest City in the World

Well looking at some of the people staggering around does serve as a reminder to live a little healtier. For example some of the Arabs managed to end up seriously overweight at a relatively young age. Even a significant minority of the Thais seem incapable of walking anywhere, with predictable conse...

Re: Air pollution problems in Bangkok

Pattaya is a lot smaller than Bangkok & the effect of the sea probably causes more breeze as well.
