Re: Pattaya tests new type of home mosquito trap

I don't know how serious the problem actually is. I've never had Dengue Fever and I know only one person, a farang, who got the disease. That was several years ago. He is fine now. If you didn't mean me GB, then you should know you can add one more to those you know that has had it. It has been a f...

Re: Laong's Bistro & Boutique

Robert just announced on his Facebook page that he has added New England Clam Chowder to his menu as a starter. He previously included it with his Christmas Dinner menu, so I have had the privilege of tasting it - and it was, IMO, wonderful! New England (aka Boston) Clam Chowder is one of my favorit...

Re: True proof-of-income now required in Chiang Mai

I was under the impression that you can renew the retirement visa as much as three months in advance. One of my friends insists you can renew only up to one month in advance. Do you know which it is? That was several years ago. For the past few years, it has been no more than 30 days with the excep...

Without posting any personal details, can you give us any examples of what such arrangements might be?

Re: True proof-of-income now required in Chiang Mai

can't residents there just go to an Immigration Office outside the city? I do know the answer to that one. The short answer is no. GB is correct - several years ago, Immigration issued an order stating Immigration services had to be obtained at the Immigration Office that serviced the geographical ...

Re: Planning a Longer Holiday

What else am I missing ? The Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) is valid for entry into Thailand as many times as you want during its validity period - 6 months from date of issue (the date is shown on the Visa as "Enter by" date). Upon entry, you receive a 60 day permission to stay which...

Re: IMM-Q

Hmmm, the article I read last week said it was available only on an android phone - looks like they have an app for the iPhone if you can get it from the Apple store. If you do your extension during busy season, it might be worth the effort. I went in last Thursday at 8:24am and recieved queue numbe...

Re: Passport Renewal

When I did mine, I opted to pick up the passport at the ACS in Bangkok, so I did not have to give the outreach folks my passport (note, if picking up at ACS, they notify you by email when it is available - no appointment necessary - take a copy of the email to present at the outside window) - The re...

Re: Arepa Venezuelan Street Kitchen Pattaya

Maybe that is why it is named Venezuelan as it features S American food -- the map on their Facebook page shows it is on Thappraya Road near the Jomtien 2nd road intersection heading toward Jomtien Beach Road. The street view on Pattaya Foodies Group FB page was apparently made before they opened - ...
