Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

Why Thailand would give a damn in the first place whether the money comes from outside of or from within Thailand, as long as you have the money, goes beyond me, but that's the way it is. Can anyone explain the logic (or lack thereof) of that? It is my understanding they give a damn because retiree...

Re: Yet Another Immigration Question

Fountainhall: I am told by the Immigration lawyer who helps me that a fixed account does not satisfy Bangkok Immigration. It has to be a savings account. Friends have confirmed this is what they have also been told. But I can not swear to it as I have never tried any method other than the savings ac...

Re: ACH transfers from USA to Bangkok Bank -Alert!

Re: ACH transfers from USA to Bangkok Bank -Alert!

Here is a page from Finder.com that covers transferring funds to Thailand from the US and lists several companies including Transferwise showing the conversion rate and fees for each. Re: ACH transfers from USA to Bangkok Bank -Alert!

Christian PFC recommended Transferwise for moving money to Thailand. I've not used it for sending cash to Thailand, but do send money to a certain ASEAN financial centre. The money is in my overseas account within 30 minutes and my total loss on fees & forex spread is just a fraction under 0.5%...

Re: ACH transfers from USA to Bangkok Bank -Alert!

So, it looks like if you don't have a USA bank account you are screwed. Solution is simple, open a USA bank account (or pay ridiculous bank fees for the debit card). When selecting a new bank be sure to get one that doesn't charge to do ACH transfers (usually the big banks). The problem appears to ...

I have been following the thread on Thaivisa.com where I first read about the change in transfers from USA bank to Bangkok Bank using Bangkok Bank's NY Branch. The ...
