Re: Annual Flu shot

My last flu shot, courtesy of the US Air Force was in November 1965 -- Not a good experience - hurt like hell and a few minutes later, I passed out.

So I managed to avoid them ever since. During that time, I have had the flu once and that was over 20 years ago.

Re: US Embassy Bangkok to stop issuing proof-of-income letters

The US Embassy information (either FAQ or Facts document) noted that Social Security will add Thailand during the first quarter of 2019 to their International Direct Deposit list -- not sure how that works, but apparently once on the list, the deposit can go to any Thailand bank.

Re: Immigration and money - in a nutshell

Excerpts Thai immigration law does say that proof of a monthly income of 65,000 baht or more is acceptable for meeting the financial requirement for the retirement visa. They had always accepted the embassy letters. The problem for people who can meet the requirement is what Thai immigration will no...

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/national/30357932 The article mentions that the same sex partner (article uses marriage in headline, but in body uses partner) act is expected to be acted on soon by the Cabinet and if approved sent to the National Assembly for enactment. If enacted, it appears...

Re: Immigration and money - in a nutshell

GB: I think ACS getting flooded with Emails might be helpful, but bear in mind that the embassy has no control over Thai immigration policies. Correct, but they can exert influence especially if several of the embassies act in concert as they did a few years ago when Immigration put a 30 day time li...

Re: Immigration and money - in a nutshell

Pat K, the Embassy Liaison (formerly Warden) mentioned to me that the US Embassy probably will not take the matter up again with Thai Immigration until they get several emails from US Citizens Did Pat K have the name of the individual in the Embassy who supervises the ACS section? I think having a ...

Re: Immigration and money - in a nutshell

GB, good you made the inquiry to Embassy, but the reply offered nothing new and doesn't really answer the question. Pat K, the Embassy Liaison (formerly Warden) mentioned to me that the US Embassy probably will not take the matter up again with Thai Immigration until they get several emails from US ...

Re: ACH transfers from USA to Bangkok Bank -Alert!

Yes, TW charges a fee and it varies depending on funding source and amount being sent. An ACH pull from your bank account or debit card appears to be minimal then the transfer fee is added - I noted for smaller amounts $100 - $300, it is around 3%, but for larger amounts, it is about .8% - if you go...
