Re: Protecting valuables

I agree with everything Jun says above. One thing nobody mentions is the new way of stealing information: someone walking up to you with a "scanner" and having all your credit card information imbedded electronically on your cards stolen. Everybody should consider buying wallets with RFID ...

Re: Pattaya New Skyrise Residential Tower

I always say (to myself) that if I was to look for a condo in Pattaya, I would start with older buildings. The individual units seem to be bigger bigger, and with the way the market seems to be in Pattaya, they're probably a LOT cheaper too. Of course, you've got to look at the building carefully in...

Re: The Movie about the Cave Rescue

Similar to the boys who reside in Issan, they are used to sleeping on hard floors (sometimes directly on concrete), live in dwellings with little or no electricity, have diets of whatever pops up on the land and go for very long periods sitting and doing nothing. I've always wondered how the bar bo...

Re: No Problem For Nazi Symbols in Thailand

I think the Thais don't consider the meaning of what they wear. They only wear something because others wear it. I don't know how it starts. For example, how many of you have seen Thai boys wearing a crucifix? I know one now who has a crucifix permanently hanging from his ear. He's Buddhist of cours...

Re: Dodger's Trip Report

Dodger, sorry to hear you're leaving your Pattaya apartment, but I understand. Your 30,000 THB does not seem to include any rent ( of course, you own your condo). Many guys are renting, so that adds to the costs for them.

Re: Be Careful at the bank

The banks here are all crazy. I opened my SCB account in 2005 (I think). I got a new passport in 2015. The bank still uses my mailing address at Yensabai Condo. I haven't stayed there for many years. So. I tried to go into the SCB at Tuk Com and update the info. No luck. They wanted my old passport/...

Re: Going for a little swim at Jomtien Beach? Read this

In the quest for exercise, I walked along the Jomtien Beach today, Wednesday. Concessionaires were closed of course for "beach cleaning", which was not happening ( never does on Wednesday. Saw it happening on a Tuesday once). Anyway something occured to me: The two "round" public...

Re: Non-Immigrant O-X Visa (so called 10 year Visa) - update

It's just as crazy for Tourist Visas (TR). If you want a single entry TR visa that lets you stay in country 60 days, you must show $700 in a bank account. Not unreasonable. If, on the other hand, you want to go out and reenter (METV) during that 60-days, you must show $7,000 for each of prior 6 mont...

Re: Favourite places in Pattaya

The beach in Jomtien is/was (?) a quiet place to spend a day reading and enjoying friends. NEVER go in the water because of the pollution. Boys? Sometimes. Now not so sure. There's big changes. Thais seem to enjoy fixing things that aren't broken. One thing that's broken down at Dongtan beach and th...
