Re: Not So Friendly Thailand

It's perfectly acceptable for you to disagree with me, and equally acceptable for those who don't.

I'm only interested in the subject being discussed, and not the least bit interested in meaningless babble.

Re: Not So Friendly Thailand

You're generalizing I'm speaking about general characteristics of Thai cultural...of course I'm generalizing. Cultural Characteristics: “A learned meaning system that consists of patterns of traditions, beliefs, values, norms, meanings and symbols that are passed on from one generation to the next ...

Re: Not So Friendly Thailand

I think you're right. These behaviors we're taking about (Thai logic) are certainly well-rooted. The farther you look back - the deeper you go into the world of Buddhism and all the superstitious elements that go along with it. I just finished my last work assignment and will be boarding a plane in ...

Re: Not So Friendly Thailand

When we stopped doing business, it was as though most friendships had never existed. I still find it difficult to get used to this. I don't want to get DEEP about this, but I've come to realize that Thais simply THINK and express their EMOTIONS completely different than us, almost as if their consc...

Re: Not So Friendly Thailand

Further thoughts on the subject: After 20 years of living - thinking - and breathing Thailand I would simply categorize Thailand as being "Gay Accepting". Not necessarily gay friendly or unfriendly...just "accepting". I think this behavior stems from the fact that Thais are very ...

Re: Not So Friendly Thailand

If a survey is ever done with at least part of the main criteria being how welcoming and friendly the country is to gays , I might be more inclined to consider the results. There have been countless survey's conducted to measure how friendly a country is towards gays (see link below for one example...

I had to chuckle when I read this...but so true.

I have to check out Taiwan one of these days. I wonder if the Taiwanese boys are as hospitable as the Thais - real smiles or not???

Re: Not So Friendly Thailand

Knowing that surveys are always skewed I decided to look at a sample of 20 surveys all taken in 2017 from around the world to see if there were any noticeable trends or similarity in results. Here's what I found: Taiwan, Mexico and Costa Rica seem to head the list (on average) as the most friendly c...

Re: Consequences of Trump's Win - 4

I could care less about watches and hand bags. U.S firms reported that among the losses they incurred as a result of IP rights infringement in China, those associated with copyright infringement were the largest monetarily, accounting for approximately $23.7 billion in losses in 2009. This figure h...

Re: Consequences of Trump's Win - 4

That is a simplistic view of the problem and in fact the Chinese are not the only ones but they have the most students. Not only that although some things might be able to be reverse engineered, many things it is near impossible. There is not a product being produced that cannot be reverse engineer...
